Professor Konstantinos Kremalis (born in 1947) studied at the Universities of Athens, Munich and Vienna.

He holds the title of Supreme Court Attorney at Law. He practices in the areas of employment, social, insurance and health law issues. He is the Managing Partner at KREMALIS Law Firm, which is a member of Ius Laboris Global Human Resources Lawyers.

Since 2002, Professor Kremalis is the Director of the Research Laboratory of Social Insurance, Health and Assistance at Athens University. In 2004 he became President of the Greek Health Law Association. SInce 1990 he is a member of the Greek Board of Mediators and Arbitrators and the National Representative of the International Scientific Society, European Institute of Social Security.

He was awarded PhD with Magna cum Laude in 1976 in the area of Labour Law, presenting the thesis “The contractual part of the collective labour agreements". After writing his monograph "The social insurance of dependent workers - Impacts from Labour Law rules" (Habil.) (1982), he became associate professor in 1983, substitute professor in 1987 and, since 1991 he fills the position of full professor at the Law School of Athens University.

For the academic year of 1994, Professor Kremalis was a visiting Professor at the European Institute of Public Administration and a Fulbright Research scholar at Portland and Illinois Universities in the United States of America. . 

Currently, Professor Kremalis teaches National, European and International Law of Social Security, Health and Welfare at the Law Department of Athens University for pre and postgraduate students. During his career he has also taught at the Catholic University of Leuven, the University of Paris II (Panthéon-Assas), the University of Rome, the University of Munich, the University of Tilburg, the University of Edinburgh, and the Kansai University of Osaka, among others.

He is the author of the class books "Social Insurance Law" (1985), “The right to health protection” (1987), "International and European Social Security Law" (1996), “Consultations of Social Law” (2000), as well as the author of many integral monographs and of over thirty special scientific works, many of which have been translated and published abroad.

Professor Kremalis has participated at several experts and law drafting committees, playing a key role in the major employment, private insurance and social security law reforms. He contributes on a regular basis as a university expert and offers legal advice to several Ministries and organizations. He was assigned as an independent expert for the national reports in the framework of the European project TRESS regarding “training and networking on the European Co-ordination of social security systems”.
